Grouping and Communication

Group play is one of the safest and fastest ways to progress, but it works best when players understand follow limits, group rules, and communication tools.

Following and Grouping

`follow ` starts following another character. `group ` adds a follower to your group. Group members share experience, can use group communication commands, and will join each other automatically in combat.

  • `group all` groups everyone currently following you.
  • `group disband` breaks the group apart.
  • You can only group within a defined level range; the help file includes a full group chart.

Splitting and Combat Ownership

`split ` divides gold among group members in the same room. The help text also notes an important side effect: once your group engages a creature, only that group can continue attacking it until the creature heals fully or the formation changes.

Communication Tools

Most day-to-day group coordination comes down to a small set of message tools.

Direct Messages

  • `tell` sends a message that still respects language.
  • `reply` answers the last tell quickly.
  • `etell` ignores language but costs 1% experience.

Group and Social Tools

  • `gtell` is the standard group channel.
  • Race chat and language systems matter for some communication.
  • Socials add flavor but no mechanical effect.

The communication help system also documents blocking, channels, and social commands. If you are trying to lead a group cleanly, learning `tell`, `reply`, `gtell`, `split`, and the level grouping limits is enough to start.
